Oklahoma state

Located in the heartland of America, we have Oklahoma (/ˌoʊkləˈhoʊmə/ which is pronounced as OHK-lə-HOH-mə and is known locally as  Choctaw's Oklahumma, which translates to "people of the red land"^[7]. This landlocked state sits comfortably in the South Central part of the great nation, the United States. It shares its borders with diverse neighbors, including the flourishing state of Texas to the south and west, the agricultural hub of Kansas to the north, the show me state of Missouri to its northeast, the nature lover's paradise of Arkansas to the east, the multicultural realm of New Mexico to the west, and the picturesque landscapes of Coloradoto the northwest. In terms of size, Oklahoma is the 20th-most extensive state, encompassing various landscapes from mountain ranges to farms and forests. Despite its vast landscape, the population is quite balanced, with the state ranking as the 28th-most populous of the 50 United States. People living in Oklahoma are affectionately known as Oklahomans and the state capital and bustling metropolis is Oklahoma City. Taking a closer look at the origin of the state's name, it is derived from the Choctaw words okla and humma, which translates as 'people' and 'red' respectively^[9]. This reflects the state's rich Native American history and it's famous red soil. Finally, Oklahoma is also affectionately known by its nickname, "The Sooner State". This name stems from the history of the American settlers known as Sooners who claimed their stakes on land owned by the American Indians even before the Indian Appropriations Act of 1889 which authorized the Land Rush of 1889 officially opened the land to settlement. This was an important event in the history and settlement of the wild western frontier.
